Creating products that people love
My academic work and business experience in accessibility (2002 - 2018) tought me lots about the contextual, cultural and social constructs that shape user needs, expectations and preferences, including an understanding of how to simplify and compose ideas on print and in video, as well as the assumptions and negotiations implicit in the process of interacting with every kind of user interface.
Sharing the Gospel of Design
As Senior Solutions Engineer with Edge Impulse (2021 - 2023), I produced a wide variety of educational content with the goal of increasing awareness on the importance of design within the heavily Engineering-skewed organization. This helped initiate meaningful conversations about how to remove product usability barriers as an essential ingredient of customer success, and thus, deal-flow success.
A novel interaction paradigm
As a Technical Lead with Myplanet (2018 - 2021). I developed a number of prototypes and PoCs aimed at demonstrating the application of emerging technologies in a variety of contexts.
One PoC in particular also required the implementation of a novel interaction paradigm to facilitate no-code reinforcement learning of an autonomous vehicle. The result was a heads-up display that used mobile gaming interaction constructs to project the user's desired path over a real-time stream of the robot's video stream. Thus giving immediate feedback to both, the user and robot alike, on the difference between the expected and actual behaviours.
